Our Mission
The South Shore Adult Baseball League, based in Northwest Indiana, offers opportunities for players aged 20 and over. With two divisions tailored to those aged 20+ and 38+, our league is entering its 22nd season in 2025 as a staple of adult baseball in the Region. Founded by Steve Carpenter as NWI NABA, our league has flourished over the past 21 years, evolving into one of the most competitive leagues in Northwest Indiana, all driven by a love for the game and a commitment to fostering a welcoming environment for all players.
Our History
The SSABL stands as an adult baseball league rooted in the ethos of "Family." Within our baseball community, we cherish moments like our opening day celebration, affectionately known as Steve/Jill Carpenter Day, team cookouts, outings to Gary Railcats Steelyard, All-Star Games, HR Derby, and our thrilling Championship Series, which draws over 300 players and their families. Beyond the field, we bond at local bars and eateries after games. In this expansive and ever-growing baseball family, wives, kids, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, cousins, and friends all play integral roles, contributing to the warmth and camaraderie that define our league.
